At the risk of overloading you with cliché-ities I simply have to say that Italy was incredible. I have been to a few overseas destinations, but Italy ranks in my top 2. The time I spent there from the wedding to the touring was nothing short of breathtaking. I want to share a few posts of my trip, but let me start with this handful of pictures from King’s Residence Hotel in Palinuro (a gloriously quaint town about 2 hours south of Naples) where the actual wedding festivities were held. It was – to repeat myself – breathtaking.

Please, please ask me to coordinate your wedding there too…pretty please? (wink)

These pictures are from a recent shower I co-hosted for my darling best friend, Ashley. Her wedding is this coming weekend in Italy so the shower was a Taste of Italy for all those unable to make it halfway around the globe.

A few things:

1) I used terra cotta pots for the food containers – a  breakaway from the normal crystal, fine china, and lace tablecloth showers you might be used to.

2) The cannoli are from the “so good they’ll make your taste buds dance and sing” authentic Napoli pizzeria Antico. If you haven’t been there yet go sink your teeth into some cheesy perfection and finish it off with a scrumptious cannoli!

3) The pictures were taken by the loveable and oh-so talented Joshua Holcombe. (muah!)

Happy 4th of July! I love this holiday – it ranks in my top 3. (Probably has something to do with the “obligation” to eat a big ole juicy cheeseburger or be deemed un-American.)

Michelle and Steven’s wedding was a little over a year ago and was a bright, nautical, DIY masterpiece. It was published a bunch, but my favorite post was on Ruffled – check it out for more pictures. I thought today would be the perfect day to show off some of their details because, well, their day was brimming over with celebration and firecracker-worthy hotness – enjoy!

I haven’t posted a BBB in a while because I just haven’t run across anything cute and inexpensive – call it my good taste if you must! Truth is, if something is going to be in your wedding and be cheap, it should a) be delightful and fresh, b) be executed with exceptional taste, and c) look freakin’ adorable. I’m so shy about giving my opinion, I know.

Anyway, saw this yesterday on Green Wedding Shoes. I heart it.

bbb-jar placecard favor

So, here’s the breakdown of cost:

$6-8 for 12 Mason Jars (you can find them here or here)

$.30 for metal/paper tags (you can find those here)

$15 for Divine Twine (comes in lots of cute colors)

“Stemware”? Check.

Place cards? Check.

Favors? Check.

Genius!

Today was a hectic, creative-juices-flowin’ kind of day. The type I live for. Collaborated with two awesome peeps for a photo shoot and can’t wait to see/share the images. I don’t want to give away too much of the actual theme, but thought it would be fun to show a tiny bit of what we were up to. (Albeit taken with retro cam on my phone so it’s not anywhere even in the same galaxy – hint, hint – of close to what the actual images will look like. )

Yes. I know it’s so hot and humid  outside that every time you take a breath you’re breathing in part of your 8 glasses of water a day requirement. And that we Southern gals are closer to melting than “dewing” every time we step out of our front doors. I’m aware.

Sometimes in the summer, though, when I feel as though I’m melting from Georgia heat I remember that autumn is just 2-ish months away (forgive me, I’m optimistic) and that I will love to layer again soon. In honor of that fact AND that if you’re getting married in the fall or winter you’re in full-on planning mode, I stumbled upon these oh-so fab, winter-worthy wedding shoes for the fellow optimist and bride on a mission. (And they’re just kind of adorable on top of it!)

I have wanted to design an India-inspired wedding for years. I’m not being dramatic (well, not more than normal) when I say years. I have been to India once and if someone told me I could go again tomorrow for free, I would jump on it.  So, when I first met Neela one lovely afternoon in March at Star Provisions  and she told me she wanted to honor her heritage with an Indian infused, light-filled, yet modern wedding I was immediately ecstatic!  The fact that she’s sassy and fabulous was like the cherry on top!

My favorite thing from our planning process was visiting a couple of saree shops to purchase the saree panels we hung throughout the space at Summerour Studio. We had a blast and I definitely enjoyed watching Neela bargain like a champ.

Oh, I also want to acknowledge the amazing images by Ardent Story Photography – just beautiful – for more photos go here.

(A fun fact: the green and yellow-ish striped plant coming out of the lanterns is called “Song of India.” So there, learn somethin’ new every day…)

This past weekend was so fun and so busy! My team and I had 3 weddings in 2 days and without them I would have checked myself into the looney bin, but with them I was merely in need of a gin and tonic by Sunday. (Joshie, Jenny, and Morgan – you’re all life savers and my favorite “worker bees”!)

At the end of the wedding on Saturday night (I was coordinating the event as well) the Mother of the Bride asked me how in the world I do this all the time. I jokingly responded, “Pedicures. Lots and lots of pedicures.” Her question got me to thinking, though. The real answer is quite simple. I love this job so much -  even with all its stresses and challenges – because I love the dreaming, the gathering details, the artistry of creating something in your mind’s eye, and the sheer joy of seeing it bring delight to the faces of the people you dreamed it up for. It’s an unmatched thrill for this lil’ city chic!

Indulge me in feeling blessed and allow me to thank you for contributing to that feeling in whatever way you have. (I realize I’m having a moment, don’t worry, it’ll pass – wink!) In the meantime, here are a few shots from one of the weddings on Saturday…

This beautiful little church wedding was at the peak season for spring flowers which was such a treat. Anemones, Hyacinths, Ranunculus – all the flowers that make me grin like a little school girl were in bloom. And, seeing as it is ‘hot as Hades’ outside in Georgia today, I thought it would be the perfect time to reflect on the coolness of spring and start longing for it again.

Best wishes to this sweet couple – they were a joy to work with and a breeze to design for!

A couple of weekends ago I had a City Girl’s ideal night: took in two amazing art shows and ended the evening listening to great jazz at a local spot. My friend, Amanda, and I started the evening at One Twelve Gallery at a show entitled Everything Beautiful (which runs through the end of this week). The concept is that beauty comes from brokenness – it was a stunning and moving mixed-media show.

This piece stopped me in my tracks – for obvious reasons (hello, it’s a gorgeous gown) – and being a detail lover it is just amazing in person. The artist is Tiffany Bentley, a student at Georgia State University.

And yes, it is made from cut-up pages from a book.
